ABOUT US
Happily Ever Pasture is a small 70 acre farm in the North West of Tasmania. We are proud to be at the beginning of our small producer journey and are excited to progressively grow over the coming years.
Our goal is to be a part of the ever growing number of smallholders that are passionate about bridging the gap between the farmer and the consumer. Highly ethical, small scale farming is something that we have been passionate about as customers and now we’re taking that passion and starting our own producer journey.
We grow pasture raised Berkshire pigs, which in our opinion make for the best pork products around. Berkshires are an old breed pig that grow slower than commercial breeds and while it takes longer for them to grow to size, the trade off is marbled meat with a true pork flavour.
We also breed Hereford cows for beef. Herefords are known for being hardy and offer a very consistent product that tastes, well… yum!
Along with our pigs and cows, we have Blue Laced Barnevelder chickens, Dorper sheep, Dwarf Lop rabbits and one crazy Labrador named Gracie.
This is the beginning of our farming journey. We don’t know a lot but we know we want to farm ethically, morally and on a scale that is sustainable.
BERKSHIRE PIGS
Berkshire pigs are a heritage breed that
have not been genetically modified through years of commercial breeding. The flavour of the pork is not compromised, to produce larger litters and leaner meat.
Berkshire pork is also known as the “Wagu” of the pork world due to the marbling in the meat that produces a much richer sweeter buttery flavour.
HEREFORD COWS
Inherently, Hereford cattle thrive on forage based diets (pasture) and are extremely adaptable to a wide range of weather conditions.
They have a great temperament and are excellent breeders. Last, but not least, they produce brilliant quality meat.
